We have one funded Ph.D. positions in the Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) with a focus on Biosensor/Microfluidics/Nanotechnology/Nanomaterials for interdisciplinary microsystem-based medical device advancement. The highly motivated Ph.D. student will join Dr. Eon Soo Lee’s research group starting immediately in the Spring 2025 semester.

About the Research:
Dr. Lee’s research focuses on:

• Development of micro-electrochemical biosensors for disease detection.
• Exploring the microfluidics of complex fluids to enhance sensing technologies and sample on-chip processing.
• Designing and synthesizing carbon nanomaterials for advanced biomedical and engineering applications.

Qualifications:

• A Master’s degree (ongoing/required by the start date) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong fundamental knowledge in fluid mechanics, physics, biosensors, or nanomaterials.
• Good scientific communication and English writing skills.
• High motivation and interest in research.
• Prior research experience in the relevant field (preferred).
